San Leonardo and Alta Badia

Alta Badia is the southern part of the Val Badia Valley, a Ladin valley in the Dolomites in South Tyrol located in a sunny valley basin. This beautiful alpine village is surrounded by fields and forests and overlooked by the imposing Dolomite Mountains like the Sella Mountain and Cir, the Sassongher and the Gardenaccia Mountains, the Sasso Santa Croce and the Conturines Mountain group. The village also borders the Puez Odle and Fanes-Senes-Braies nature parks.
San Leonardo (1,324 m) is a harbour of Badia/Pedraces. It is a typical alpine village located at the bottom of Sasso Santa Croce characterised by numerous farms with typical Ladin architecture. Worth seeing in the immediate vicinity are the parish church in baroque rococo style right next to the hotel, the gothic sanctuary Santa Croce at 2,045m, and the archaeological excavations of Sotciastel with findings from the Bronze period which provide evidence of the first settlements in this area.
